Man or Astroman?

Man or Astroman? is a surf rock group from the 90s.  True to their name, the group is wholly dedicated to marrying punk rock/new wave sounds to science fiction themes, audio samples, obscure electronic devices (such as theremins and tesla coils) in over-the-top live performances.

In its standard form, the band generally consists of Star Crunch (aka Brian Causey) on guitar and sometimes vocals, Birdstuff (aka Brian Teasley) on drums, and Coco the Electronic Monkey Wizard (Robert DelBueno) on bass guitar and electronics.  Over the years, however, the line-up has changed and the band actually sent both Alpha and Gamma Man or Astroman? Clone groups out on tour.

It’s THOR, the Rock Warrior!

Jon Mikl Thor is a bodybuilding champion, actor, songwriter, screenwriter, historian, vocalist and musician.  Yep, he can do it all.  I mean, just look at him in this picture.  He just screams Superman/Hollywood/Brainiac/Rock god, doesn’t he?!

Thor the bodybuilder was the first Canadian to win both the Mr. Canada and Mr. USA titles.   Thor “the Legendary Rock Warrior,” was the front man for heavy metal band Thor; on stage he would wow the crowd with his musical stylings and all sorts of strength feats, props, costumes and showmanship such as bending solid steel bars in his teeth and having solid concrete blocks smashed off his chest with a sledgehammer.  While, at the same time, Thor the thespian starred in “films” like RecruitsZombie Nightmare, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare.

Just kind of leaves you speechless, doesn’t it?!

10. Zombie Nightmare

Ghoul School is a hilarious ultra-lowbudget flick about a highschool swimming team, whose members terrorize the other pupils and teachers after they’ve been turned into blood-thirsty zombies by a strange chemical that accidently ended up in their swimming pool. In order to prevent the ghastly ghouls from taking over their school, a bunch of robot ninja-lovin’ geeks has to team up with the worst heavy metal band that ever appeared in movie and fight back the attack of the undead.

8. Hard Rock Zombies

A hard rock band travels to the tiny and remote town of Grand Guignol to perform. Peopled by hicks, rubes, werewolves, murderous dwarves, perverts, and Hitler, the town is a strange place.  But that of course doesn’t stop the band’s lead singer from falling in love with a local girl named Cassie. After perverts kill the band to satisfy their blood lust, Cassie calls the rockers back from the grave to save her, the town, and maybe the world.

7. Lone Wolf

A struggling rock band and other college students cope with the trials and tribulations of their young lives and find themselves in the role of determining what exactly is behind the recent full-moon killings which have been attributed to wild dogs.

6. Black Roses

The plot of this one is pretty simple … Demons hypnotize the general public by posing as a rock and roll band. Duh!

5. Pledge Night

When a silly frat boy prank goes way too far (Young Sid is boiled in a tub of acid), he comes back to wreak havoc on the new generation of brothers in his old fraternity.

4. The Gate

When three young children have a tree removed from their backyard they literally open the gates of hell and accidentally release a horde of nasty, pint-sized demons!  What follows is a classic battle between good and evil as the three kids struggle to overcome a nightmarish reality that is literally taking over the Earth.

3. Trick or Treat

Sammi Curr was a famous, devil-worshiping rock star who died under mysterious circumstances. Now he wants to come back to life. Doing so requires possessing radio wave & automobiles and making a few human sacrifices.

2. Rock n’ Roll Nightmare

At an old farmhouse, a family mysteriously dissapears at the hands of evil. Years later, hair metal band The Tritons comes to the farmhouse, whose barn now features a 24-track recording studio. Lead singer John Triton gets the band to perform their first night in the farmhouse after dinner, and weird little beasties suddenly appear, and strange things start to happen. Band members (and their tag along girlfriends) begin to act strangely and vanish one by one. Soon, only John Triton remains, and he holds a secret. Finally, the evil shows itself and a battle between heaven and hell ensues …. You must watch the trailer – amazing!

1. Shock ‘Em Dead
