Sanzhi Ghost City

Construction began on the retro-futuristic Sanzhi (Ghost) Pod City in Taiwan in 1978 (kind of Futuro House like, no?), but was abandoned in 1980 due to lack of investment and construction-related deaths.  The pods were planned as a vacation resort for U.S. military officers coming from their East Asian postings (amongst others).  But, there were apparently too many spooky car accidents for comfort during construction, which is said to have been caused by the unfortuitous act of bisecting the Chinese dragon sculpture located near the resort gates for widening the road to the buildings; other rumors claim that the pods were built on top of a Dutch burial ground, and the ghosts were responsible for the deaths.  Either way, the place had way bad mojo that led to its demise.

Today there is not  pod left.  They were all demolished between 2009 – 2010 to make room for what else but a new resort and water park.  I wonder if that one will be haunted too …
