In 1990 Kellogg’s Company produced a series of cereal boxes with Hologram images of their most iconic mascots. Yes, they were pretty cool. And yes, it got millions of kids to buy even more Kellogg’s products. Pretty genius.
You could even send away for a special Hologram Collector’s Book. Inside was a description of how a hologram is made, and there were 18 blank pages urging you on to “collect them all” (and buy more cereal!).
